Troubleshooting Large NetApp File Server Database Size of 2TB

Issue with NetApp File server database size very big.

The Customer informed us that one of their NetApp file server databases has grown very large about 2TB in size.

Steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue are as follows:

  1. We checked and observed that the version of Lepide is 26.1.

  1. We checked that the size of the database for one of the NetApp file servers is 2TB and we also checked that the creation date of that database is 2024.

  1. We checked that the recovery model of that database is set to simple.

  1. We checked the Audit policy of the NetApp File server. The Audit policy is set up as per the customer choice to audit the shared folders.

  1. We created a new database for that NetApp file server from the File server settings console.

  1. We also suggested that the customer keep the old database in a safe place and when they want to recover any data from that old database, they can use the Explore backup option and view the old data.

  1. We also setup the Archive of the newly created database of the NetApp File server.

  1. We suggested that the customer continues to monitor the solution.
