A Profile defines what to scan and how to classify data stored in your environment.
Each profile can include one or more templates, tags, and patterns that determine which files are scanned and what kind of sensitive data is identified.
This section explains how to create a new profile for a Windows File Server using Lepide Identify.
1. Adding a New Profile
From the Data Discovery & Classification screen, click on the Profile tab.
Click the Add icon.
Add a Profile Name and optional Description.
Click Next
2. Selecting the Windows File Server Component
The Select Object(s) dialog box is displayed.
This dialog box lets you add one of the following components:
Windows File Server
NetApp Filer
Exchange On-Premise
Exchange Online
Windows Cluster
SharePoint OnPremise
SharePoint Online
OneDrive
Dropbox
Linux
Unix
The following steps cover the Windows File Server component. The other components are described later in this document.
Select the Windows File Server component.
Type in the Username and Password.
3. Adding Folders
You will need to specify the folder(s) where the data is stored. There can be multiple folders included within a profile.
Click the Add icon. A menu is displayed with the following options:
All Shares
Import from Existing DataSet
Import from CSV
Set UNC Path
Scan Shares from audited File Servers
For this example, select All Shares. The following dialog box appears:
Specify the File Server path using
\\server nameformat and click OK.Click Next.
4. Assigning Templates
Once the folder path is specified, the Assign Templates dialog box is displayed.
From here you can:
Select one or more existing Templates.
Click the Select All icon.
Click the Remove selection icon.
Click the Add Template icon.
Click the Add Template icon.
Add a Name and Description for the Template.
Click the Add Tag ➕ icon.
You can do one of the following:
Import From Template
Select from Existing Tags
Create Custom Tag
For this example, choose Create Custom Tag.
5. Creating a Tag and Pattern
Add a Name and Description for the tag
Click the Add Pattern icon
If you want to add an existing pattern, click Add Existing Patterns
To create a new pattern, click Create New Pattern
6. Selecting File Types
Select the file types you want to scan for Data Classification (the default is All).
Choose Include / Exclude file types.
Click Next.
7. SQL Server Settings
Specify SQL Server settings.
Click Next.
8. Classification Server
Classification Method options:
On-the-fly Classification
Classify Now
Classification Schedule
If using a schedule, click Change Schedule.
Specify the Classification Server (Console / Local File Server / Remote File Server).
Click Finish.
9. Agent Installation
If an Agent is not installed, a prompt appears.
9.1 Install an Agent
The DDC Agent should be uninstalled after installing the latest setup.
Click the Add Server icon.
Enter the server information:
-IP address
-Agent Path (\\server\sharedfolder)
-Username & Password
Click Install
Click Close, then Finish.
10. Uninstalling an Agent
Go to the Data Discovery & Classification screen.
Select the Agents tab.
Select the agent you want to uninstall.
Click the Uninstall icon.
Click Yes to start uninstalling.
Click Close.
The DDC Agent should always be uninstalled before installing a newer version.
Classification schedules can be created or modified at any time from the Profiles tab.
Web Console notifications for scan start and completion can be configured separately
