1. Overview

This article describes how to add a newly joined Domain Controller (DC) to your auditing configuration. Once a new DC is added to the domain, it must be manually registered within the audit tool to begin collecting audit data from it.

2. Prerequisites

The Domain Controller has already been joined to the domain.

3. Steps to Add a Domain Controller for Auditing

Step 1 – Open Domain Properties

  • Click on the Settings (gear) icon in the left navigation pane.

  • Expand the Component Management section and select your Domain Name (e.g., lst43.com).

  • In the right-side panel, click Properties. Alternatively, right-click the domain name and select Properties from the context menu.

Right Click the Domain Name

Step 2 – Navigate to Advanced Domain Configuration

  • In the Properties window, click on Advanced Domain Configuration from the left-hand menu (second option).

Step 3 – Refresh the Server List

  • Click the Rescan Server List icon located in the bottom-right corner of the window (magnifying glass icon).

  • The tool will now display all available Domain Controllers, including any newly added ones.

Step 4 – Select the New Domain Controller

  • Locate the newly added Domain Controller(s) in the list under Active Directory & Exchange Servers or Group Policy Servers.

  • Check/tick the checkbox next to the new DC to enable auditing for it.

  • Click OK to save the changes.

Step 5 – Refresh the Configuration

  • After saving, right-click the domain name in the left pane and click Refresh to apply the updated configuration.

Note: After refreshing, the new Domain Controller will appear in the audit scope and events will begin to be collected from it.

4. Expected Result

Upon completion, the newly added Domain Controller will be included in the auditing configuration. Audit events from the new DC will begin appearing in reports and alerts.
