Prerequisites and Requirements - Nutanix

1. Requirements

Before you start installing the Lepide Data Security Platform for File Server (Nutanix), make sure that your computer meets the following requirements:

1.1 Basic System Requirements

  • Required Processor

    • Minimum 6 core processor

    • Recommended 8 core processor

  • Required RAM

    • Minimum 16 GB RAM

    • Recommended 32 GB RAM

  • Required free disk space

    • Minimum 100 GB

    • Recommended 200 GB

  • Any of the following Windows Operating Systems.

    • Windows Server OS: 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025 (latest)

  • Supported SQL Server Options for Storing Auditing Logs:

    • Any of the following SQL Server instances, either local or network hosted.

    • Recommended: Network-hosted SQL Server.

    • Any SQL Server above and including SQL Server 2016 (standard or enterprise)

  • .NET Framework 4.6.2 developer pack and above

1.2 Supported Servers for Auditing

2. Pre-requisites to Audit Nutanix

  • If you have given the denied permission to the file then if you select on file and then right click, the default event is triggered that is “Open Modify\fail”.

  • If you configure the Nutanix file server on a machine, if you do changes in Nutanix share from the same machine, you are not able to see the changes which you have done

  • Port range lies between ( 1024-65535 )

  • Supported Protocols:

TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is a reliable, connection-oriented protocol that ensures data is delivered accurately and in order over a network. It uses error checking, flow control, and retransmission mechanisms to guarantee data integrity and delivery.

2.1 Steps to Create a User for RestApi in Nutanix

Login to the Nutanix web console

  • After logging into the Nutanix web console, click on the Gear icon

  • Select the File Server and then click the Launch Files Console

  • After clicking on the Launch File Console

Dashboard

  • Click on the Configuration dropdown and then select Manage Roles

  • To create a new user, click on New User and then enter the username and password

  • After adding a new user, you can access the RestAPI

2.2 Required User Rights

  • Users should be Domain users (required for Permission and Property Changes in Auditing)

  • A member of Domain Admins Group (required for DDC)

2.3 Local System Rights

The user should have the following permissions on the local computer where the software is installed:

  • Full access permission to the drive on which the operating system is installed

  • Read/Write permissions in the registry
