Data Discovery and Classification Reports

1. Reports

The classified reports for each service are available in the Lepide Identify Reports section of the Lepide Web Console.

1.1 Running a Report

To generate a data classification report:

  • From the Home screen, select the Lepide Identify.

  • The Identify-Reports window opens and displays the all the available reports:

  • To view the reports available within a specific folder, click the folder name. For example, click OneDrive.

  • To expand the list of reports within a folder, click the + icon.

  • Select the required report by clicking its name. For example, select Classified OneDrive Objects Report.

  • Apply the required filters.

  • Click Generate Report and the report is generated.

1.3 Previewing Classified Data

Preview column is available in the generated report. Each record contains a Preview icon that allows you to view the classified data.

To preview classified data:

  • Locate the record that you want to review.

  • Click the Preview icon for the record.

  • The Preview window opens and displays information such as:

    • Server

    • File Path

    • File Type

  • In the Pattern List column, select the pattern for which you want to view the classified data.

  • The Total Count column displays the total number of matches identified for the selected pattern.

  • The Value panel displays all values that match the selected pattern.

  • Select the value you want to search for in the Preview pane. The preview navigates to the first occurrence of the selected value.

  • The file preview is displayed in the Preview pane, with the classified values highlighted in yellow.

For example, if a TXT file has been classified, selecting a pattern displays the corresponding matched values and highlights those values within the file preview.

  • The duplicate count for each value is displayed next to the corresponding value.

Navigation Button
  • Use the Next and Previous navigation button to navigate between duplicate occurrences across multiple pages of the preview.

1.4 Highlighting Duplicate Values

For TXT and DOCX files:

  • Every occurrence of a duplicate value is highlighted in pale orange.

  • The currently selected duplicate occurrence is highlighted in orange.

  • For Exchange Online, the email preview is displayed in the format shown below.

  • To initiate the search, select the attachment in which the search is to be performed.

  • For PDF files, the highlighting of classified values in the preview panel follows the color reference below.

PPTX File:

  • For PPTX files, the search is performed slide by slide, and the classified values are highlighted in yellow in the Preview panel, as shown below:

PNG File:

  • For PNG files, the search is performed on the extracted text, and the classified values are highlighted in the Preview panel, as shown below:

1.5 Files Skipped Due to Size Report

This report will list any files which have been skipped from data classification due to their size.

To run the report:

  • From, the Lepide Web Console Home Page, select Lepide Identify, Reports, Files Skipped Due to Size

  • Click Generate Report

  • The report will run and can be sorted, filtered and exported to CSV and PDF formats
