Why LDSP should not be Installed on the C Drive

It is strongly recommended that the Lepide Data Security Platform (LDSP), like other third-party applications, is not to be installed on the C drive of a Windows server. The C drive typically hosts the operating system and core system files. Installing LDSP on a separate drive helps maintain system stability, ensures better disk space management, and reduces the risk of operational issues.

Reason for Recommendation

1. System Stability

The C drive contains critical Windows operating system files. If a third-party application such as LDSP encounters errors, requires frequent write operations, or generates large volumes of data, it may impact system performance or interfere with OS functionality. Installing LDSP on a non-system drive minimizes the risk of system instability or corruption.

2. Disk Space Management

LDSP stores logs, audit data, reports, and temporary files, which can grow significantly over time. Installing the application on a separate drive allows administrators to:

• Manage operating system and application storage independently

• Prevent the C drive from running out of disk space

• Avoid performance degradation caused by insufficient system storage

Best Practice

For optimal performance and maintainability, LDSP should be installed on a dedicated non-system drive (for example, D:\ or E:). This approach aligns with standard Windows server deployment best practices and supports long-term stability of both the operating system and the application.
